Who handles the data
mdsc.it is the personal website of Quirino Scaramastra, the data controller. For any request about your data you can reach him through the contacts at the bottom of the homepage.
Server logs
Like any website, the server hosting mdsc.it automatically logs the technical data of every visit: IP address, date and time, requested page, browser and operating system. They are needed to run the site, protect it from abuse and count visits in aggregate with AWStats, the hosting provider's statistics tool, without cookies and without sending data to anyone else.
The legal basis is the legitimate interest in the security and operation of the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Logs are kept for a limited period and are not used to identify visitors.
Content from other sites
To display the pages your browser downloads the fonts from Google Fonts and, on the Blog page, the article images from WordPress.com and Substack: these services receive your IP address and the technical data of the request. Links to social networks lead to those sites and send nothing before you click.
Cookies
The site uses no cookies at all, whether technical, analytics or advertising, so no consent is needed.
Your rights
You can ask to access the data concerning you, to erase it or to restrict its processing, and you can object to the processing (Arts. 15-22 GDPR). If you believe your data is being handled improperly you can lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
